East Herts District Council are in the early stages of creating a new Local Plan.
The initial stages of this process include a Scoping Consultation, which is an opportunity for meaningful early engagement with the local community and stakeholders. Comments at this stage can be made about:
- What the plan should contain;
- How East Herts should engage with stakeholders and the community in the preparation for the plan; and
- The content of the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) / Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Document.

The next consultation will be in February 2027 on the plan content and evidence.
The plan is expected to take 2 years to complete, with adoption expected around 6 months later following a public enquiry by the government’s Planning Inspectorate.
